Iyere blasts Peter Obi’s spokesman for opposing Obidients’ endorsement of Enugu PDP guber candidate, Mbah

A chieftain of the Labour Party and convener of 40m ballot revolution, Comr. Kennedy Iyere has taken a swipe at one of the spokespersons of Peter Obi Campaign; Kenneth Okonkwo, for his opposition to the endorsement of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party by the Enugu Obidient movement as their preferred candidates in the state.

Iyere who was one of the pioneers of presidency of Igbo extraction while Mr. Okonkwo was still promoting the current administration of Muhammadu Buhari, said Obi needs a man like Pete Mbah to drive a functional leadership that will actually make Nigeria get translated to the Nigeria of our dream when he (Obi) “retrieves his stolen mandate.”

Okonkwo while reacting to the endorsement of Mbah took to his twitter page on Tuesday to describe Iyere as an impostor, saying the Edo-born activist was never part of the Obidient movement.

Reacting to the statement at a press conference in Enugu, Iyere said but for the plea by the leaders of the party he holds in high esteem, he (Iyere) would have sent Okonkwo to a “permanent political exile”.

“Where was Okonkwo when I launched the 40m ballot revolution for Peter Obi? He was acting film, jumping from one set to another speaking big Big grammar when I traversed the length and breadth of the country, risking my life to sell the message of Igbo Presidency under Peter Obi.

“Just when the food was ready, Okonkwo jumped the queue, begged to be made one of the spokespersons for the campaign because you wanted to use your cheap popularity to acquire a firm you don’t deserve.”

He reminded Okonkwo that “when the Southern Governors sold out, I led the other ethnic nationalities; the Afenifere, PANDEF, Middle Belf Forum to the chairman of Southern Governors Forum, Akeredolu of Ondo State. You can’t write the history of the current Peter Obi revolution without me. One of the persons to tutor you about me is Peter Obi.”

He urged Okonkwo not to misrepresent Obi by his utterances as he(Iyere) has been with Obi for more than 3 years. “He’s my president-elect and we will all fight to reclaim the mandate.”

He reiterated that his preference for Peter Mbah of the PDP for Enugu Governorship election “is based on his capacity, competence and character which is what the Obidient movement stands for.”

“The Obidient movement was formed to have the best among us rule over us. It’s the coming together of people with the burning desire to have the very best rule over us as can be seen in other advanced countries.

“I’m not a proponent of Labour from top to bottom. For me, Mbah ticks all the boxes of character, capacity and competence and that’s why he’s my candidate. Frank Nweke of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, thicks these boxes for Aisha Yusuf and its her right.”

He urged the voters to look beyond party and vote that candidate with the character, capacity and competence to lead Enugu State.

“Don’t vote because the person is of Labour Party but because the person has the necessary capacity to bring the dividends of democracy to Enugu State.
