Police arrest FUTO serial rapist in Imo, detain suspect

A student of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) identified as Okoroafor Emmanuel Chinedu has been arrested and detained by the Imo state police command for allegedly getting involved in rape activities.

Okoroafor, who was said to be a final year student of the school and Commander of Man O War security organization in the university was arrested on Friday by a local security outfit in collaboration with a human right group known as Onurube Gender-based Coalition (OGBC) operating in Nekede council area of Owerri-west and handed the suspect over to the Nekede Police Division.

The Convener of the group, Marjorie Ezihe, who spoke to journalists on Saturday said the suspect had been severally accused of taking advantage of his unsuspecting female victims and forcefully having carnal knowledge of them.

He said, “he deploys his position as the commander of Man O War to take advantage of students in the institution.”

He urged the state Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, to use his good offices to bring the serial rapist to book.

When contacted, the police Spokesman, Henry Okoye, confirmed his arrest, disclosing that investigation was ongoing to ascertain his culpability in the case.
