2027: Group urges Atiku, Obi, Kwankwaso to support Bala Mohammed for presidency

A political pressure group in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed Vanguard (BAMV), has pleaded with the leading presidential candidates of the 2023 parties in the presidential elections to collapse their personal interest to support Bauchi State governor, Alhaji Bala Mohammed in the 2027 presidential election.

The group, which said it is in the best interest of the country for the opposition figures to support the former FCT minister, also re-echoed their call for Governor Mohammed to hearken to their call to contest for the nation’s top job under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2027.

Speaking during the Southeast meeting of the group in Enugu weekend, the BAMV national director of protocol, Hon. Peace Iheanyi, said the group resolutely stand behind their belief that the PDP is better positioned to win back power in 2027.

She said: “Our great nation is at a critical crossroad today, August 1-10 marked a pivotal point when Nigeria’s youth marched out in their millions during the #EndBadGovernance protests to convincingly register their grievances of the untold hardship inflicted on Nigerians by the clueless APC-led federal government. Today, the naira has lost over 100% of its value

“Without an iota of doubt, we believe, and resolutely stand behind our belief, that the PDP is better positioned to win back power in 2027 because of the gross misrule of the APC led federal government. In the last nine years, the APC-led government has shown itself to be nothing but a power grabbing and propaganda contraption which has no interest in governance and the wellbeing of Nigerians.

“That is why it has no strategy for wealth creation but only interested in reckless borrowing, policy inconsistencies and treasury looting which has devastated our economy and wreck the Naira which our party handed over to them at N167 to a dollar in 2015.

“The APC-led government has compromised our national security and is now superintending over escalating bloodletting, terrorism and unrelenting acts of banditry to the extent that mass killing is becoming a new born in our country. The only hope is returning the PDP to power in 2027 and we must not fail our citizens and compatriots”.

She continued: “It is against this background that BAMV is reechoing the call for His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the PDP.

“Our firm resolve in this project has remained rock solid and unshakable since we started the campaign in 2020 and you are all witnesses to the strides we have made in just a very short time placing our candidate as a strategic frontrunner, both at the gubernatorial and presidential levels”

Iheanyi insisted that the country desperately needed a leadership rejig with the emergence of of leaders who can effectively manage Nigeria’s unique diversity.

“Bala Mohammed is the right person for the top job of Nigeria’s president. This is strictly based on his impeccable track records as a true nationalist, technocrat, democrat, commitment to peace and development of Nigeria as well as his detribalised credentials.

“These, coupled with his stellar performance both as a minister of the Federal Capital Territory and currently as the governor of Bauchi State are glaring for all to see.

“It is on this note that we call on the leading presidential candidates of the

2023 parties in the presidential elections in the persons of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Dr, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the NNPP to rally round Gov. Bola Mohamed in 2027 for the overall interest of our dear country,” she said.

The Southeast Zonal coordinator of the group, Chief Eugene Nwankwo, reiterated their resolve to ensure that the region support Governor Mohammed to secure the PDP presidential nomination in 2027.

“He’s doing well in his state. We’re all together in this call for him to run and we’re all in support for Atiku, Peter Obi and others to step down for him because if he gets the party’s ticket, Nigeria would never remain the same. It will change for the better,” he said.
